"Best way to see this town
If you are like us and are on your first trip to China and don't speak the language, but love Chinese - especially Cantonese - food this tour is a must.
Wai, our guide, took us to places we would never have known about, let alone been able to navigate without the language - such as the fish market where she picked out fresh prawns and took it to a restaurant next door which cooked it for us. That alone was worth the price of the tour. Then there was the bbq goose from a popular local stall, yum cha from one of China's best restaurants, as well as lashings of local history and culture. For a few hours we felt like we were locals. Memorable."

"Well Worthwhile
4 + hours well spent. Our Guide led us on a food adventure that included a wide variety of food and dishes, interesting markets and historic restaurants. She generously shared her knowledge and love of Cantonese culture and made sure we were all well looked after. The pace was just right and the foods thoughtfully planned."

"Absolutely Brilliant
This tour is brilliant, and so much more than a food tour. Wai (our guide) took us all around the Liwan area of Guangzhou, through traditional Chinese herb shops and the kind of local markets that I wouldn't have a hope of negotiating on my own.
Right from the first stop of the day we knew we were going to have an awesome time. After a tour of the wholesale fish market (worth the money all on its own, you wouldn't venture here as a tourist!) we picked our own live prawns to be cooked in a restaurant just upstairs. You literally couldn't do this without Wai to guide you - as a tourist you wouldn't even know the restaurants were there. This was followed with barbecued goose (where we skipped the queue because Wai had pre-ordered), wonton soup at a traditional cafe, dim sum and tea at one of the top ten restaurants IN CHINA, and cakes at the oldest bakery in Guangzhou.
Along with the outrageously good food that you'll eat along the way, Wai provides a city tour, loads of historical and cultural trivia, recommendations for dinner and other places to try while you're in Guangzhou, and even sent me the correct Chinese for dishes I wouldn't have been able to order in English. I felt pretty smug walking into a VERY local cafe that evening and ordering from the Chinese menu...
In short, if you're going to Guangzhou, DO THIS TOUR."
